What You Can Do For Your Country

Yesterday we rented some movies, one was Michael Moores “Farenheit 9/11″. Sean and I have already voted by absentee ballot a few days ago but it’s something we’ve wanted to see for a long time. While I assumed the movie would be a bit upsetting I really didn’t expect it to effect me so much. There are parts of the movie that are very overwhelming and even disturbing. I cried a lot and there were several times that I really thought I was going to vomit. Not so much because the movie was graphic (which it is) but because my emotions were so strong and the stress of it was so strong.

With that being said, I hope everyone sees the movie before voting. A lot of times we shy away from things that disturb us, but the fact is that it doesn’t make them go away. If you don’t see the movie then all the bad things that occured and continue to occur will still be a reality. But you, as an American citizen, regardless of your political, religious or societal affiliations have a duty to not only vote, but make an educated vote. If you vote based on what you hear on tv or what your family says etc, you aren’t making a responsible choice. It is everyone’s duty to educate themselves on the issues and make a choice based not on labels like democrat/republican, liberal/conservative etc, but on the reputation and actions of the candidate. Of course, you can choose not to vote. But if you do, don’t come crying to me about how terrible our government is. Because if you aren’t willing to give up a couple hours of your time to participate in choosing a new leader then you have no right to complain later.

Please vote. If you care at all about your rights, about the world your kids will grow up in, about your privacy and your safety, vote. One person can make a difference, especially when a lot of ‘one person’s’ get together. And make an informed vote. Below are some non-partisan (that means unbiased, that they have no affiliation one way or the other, it is simply the truth) links that I hope will help you make a decision.
