Twas The Night Before Solstice

Twas the night before Solstice, and all through our home
Not a creature was stirring, not even our gnomes.
The stockings were hung level with our heads,
In hopes that the cats wouldn’t tare them to shreds.

The kitties were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of catnip danced in their heads.
And Sean in his hotel, and I in my home,
Had just laid down to sleep in our beds all alone.

When out in the kitchen there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Out of bedroom I flew like a flash,
To discover which critter had caused such a crash.

The glass on the floor sparkled like ice
And I thought for a moment some drugs might be nice.
Then half asleep and bare foot I beat the cats with a broom,
Cleaned up the kitchen and went back to our room.

Finally at noon Sean did arrive,
With tales of missing luggage and sleep crust in his eyes.
More rapid than eagles he flew to the bed,
We were both so exhausted we’d sleep like the dead!

“Out Neo! Out Wash! Out Puff and Niobe!
Go Shepherd, Go Doc, Go Malcolm and Zoey!
Scoot Jayne, Shoo Kaylee, Scram Samhain and Trinity!
Out the door they all ran, slid on floors, into walls!
Get out of our bedroom and that goes for you all!”

As the house settled to blessed silence and peace,
I snuggled Sean close, said welcome home, now lets sleep.
So into our bed we lay down for a snooze,
Our feet swollen, eyes puffy and bruised.

Sean was jet lagged and I was lost in a haze,
Neither of us having slept in three days.
The interview was over, our house was a mess,
but we were so sleepy we couldn’t care less.

And then, in the silence, I heard out in the hall
The scratching and pawwing of not one cat but all.
So we got out of bed, got dressed and made haste,
To give the cats presents, catnip and fish paste.

We were hungry, tired, cranky and cold
But we were all together and safe in our home.
So we showered, opened presents, made dinner and then
watched a scary movie, checked our email and snuggled into bed.

As we drifted to sleep I said a small prayer
To thank God for keeping him safe and getting him here.
I hugged my boo close, closed my eyes and held tight.
Whispering ‘Blessed Solstice to all and to all a good night!’

Blessed Solstice everyone! I hope your holiday season is full of laughter, love and magic!

Good luck and blessings, Prana

Easily Amused

Monday, December 19th, 2005

I’m easily amused, hence the title. That makes things fairly easy for Sean; I guess I’m low maintainance. Anyway, one of the things that amuses me is Amazon. I do a good bit of shopping there and I’ve come across some pretty funny stuff.

For instance, the funny reviews. It seems theres a whole secret community of folks who post funny and sometimes really deranged reviews of products on Amazon’s website. One of the guys I like is J.E. Swearingen.
Here’s one of his reviews:

Knife of Dreams (The Wheel of Time, Book 11) by Robert Jordan

Better than being born, October 31, 2005
Wow. Robert Jordan’s penultimate book in this epic series just blew me away. Like I can’t find myself I’m so gone. Dude.

Frellep and Pontautraine return, of course, but this time they’ve got company — a whole company of bandit kings, that is! But the Dessintal army has a few things to say about that: namely 1. Watch 2. Yourself 3. Buster!

And what about the ravishing Coccyx and her newfound magical powers? Will she able to reunite with Sapsapsapsapsa and Tigger?

My favorite part of these books are that they are very expensive and the drawings on the front of the books.

I also like Gaijin who cleverly puts pictures of Firefly/Serenity in all thier reviews.

This little gem I found while searching for decor for our tree. Make sure you read it very carefully. I almost had to change clothes when I read that.

Good times.

Good luck and blessings, Prana
